Our Gifts for Jesus

Dec 18, 2023 | Blog

Season’s Greetings, Happy Holidays and lastly, Xmas. What is missing in these popular slogans?  It is the one word: Christ.  Have we lost the true meaning of Christmas?  Has the modern world taken over? Are we frantically running around looking for gifts and bargains?

The true meaning of Christmas is celebrating the birth of tiny bay born over 2000 years ago. This baby is Jesus, the Savior of all of us. This tiny baby, the King of Kings, was not born in a palace with wealth and pomp. He was born in the lowly town of Bethlehem in a barn surrounded by loving animals.  He was not born in a crib made of fine wood and lined with satin but in a manger lined with straw.  His Blessed Mother was a humble virgin, and His Foster Father was a saintly carpenter.

Angels and poor shepherds adored Him, and three foreign Kings brought Him gifts. What gifts are we going to give Jesus for His birthday this year? Lists are being written everywhere of what people want for Christmas.  I wonder what is on the list Jesus has for us.  Could it be patience, forgiveness, love for our neighbors and love and complete trust in Him?  Let us reflect on our gifts to Him and let us celebrate His birthday with grateful and joyful hearts.
